Water damage
How long does drying take? Most water-damage drying projects take approximately 3–5 days, but drying time varies based on the materials affected, extent of the loss, moisture levels and site conditions. Hardwood floors, concrete, cabinetry and other difficult-to-dry assemblies may need additional time. We monitor moisture throughout the drying process, and actual moisture readings, not an arbitrary number of days, determine when drying is complete. We remove drying equipment when moisture readings show the project's drying goals have been met. See structural drying.
Can I stay in my home during drying? Whether you can remain in the property depends on the extent of the damage, the areas affected and the type of water involved. Drying equipment can be noisy and may run around the clock. Contaminated water, such as sewage, can require additional safety precautions. We discuss conditions affecting occupancy with you based on the specific loss.
Do you fix the leak? No. Plumbing, roofing and HVAC repairs are handled by the appropriate licensed trade. We remove the water, dry the affected materials and document the work, and we coordinate timing with whoever makes the repair. See water damage restoration.
Will I get mold? The longer materials remain wet, the greater the opportunity for mold and other microbial growth. Prompt water removal and measured drying can help reduce that risk. See preventing mold after water damage.
Do you test for mold? No. If mold identification or sampling is needed, it is performed by an independent Florida-licensed mold assessor.
Fire and smoke
Can smoke-damaged belongings be saved? Many can, depending on the item, the material, the type of residue and how long it has been exposed. We clean contents on site that can be cleaned and tell you what cannot. See smoke and soot cleanup.
Will the smoke smell go away? Effective smoke-odor control starts with identifying and addressing the residue or materials causing the odor, followed by condition-based deodorization. Lingering or returning odor can indicate that additional sources need evaluation. See smoke odor removal.
Do you rebuild after a fire? Repair and reconstruction work that requires a contractor license is performed by an appropriately licensed contractor of your choosing. We handle cleanup, odor control and drying, and we can coordinate our work with your contractor. See fire damage cleanup and restoration.
Insurance
Will insurance pay for this? Coverage depends on your policy and the cause of loss. Your insurance company or agent can tell you what your policy covers. Coverage and claim decisions remain with your insurance company.
What documentation do you provide? Photos (and video when appropriate), moisture readings, moisture maps, drying records, and a detailed, itemized estimate and invoice for the work we perform. With your authorization, we can share our documentation with your adjuster and answer questions about our work. See working with your insurance.
